Former footballer Ashley Cain has announced that his eight-month-old daughter Azaylia has passed away.
She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia at eight weeks.
Her parents, former Coventry City player who turned into a Reality Show star Ashley Cain and partner Safiyya Vorajee, had raised more than $ 1.5 million earlier this year to fund special treatment in Singapore.
But the 30-year-old told his followers on Instagram last month that Azaylia was very ill and even this treatment could not help her.
In posts announcing her death, Ashley and Safiyya shared photos embracing their daughter.
Ashley wrote, “Rest in Paradise. I will always hold you in my heart until I have you back in Paradise.”
In November, the couple had asked people for help to register as stem cell donors after being told their daughter needed a transplant.
This led to 41,000 people being registered within 48 hours.
But doctors had told them they would not be able to cure Azaylia, whose leukemia worsened despite a successful bone marrow transplant.
